As Senior Psychometrician, you will help  create the next generation early literacy assessment. Already approved by many State DOEs and in use by hundreds of school districts, Amira is leveraging AI, IRT and speech recognition to bring a new level of reliability, validity and usability to reading assessment. You will lead our effort to evolve and improve the psychometrics underlying Amira’s universal screener, ORF, dyslexia screener and benchmark assessments.

The first AI-powered tutor, we are able to listen to young children read out loud, assess their mastery and deliver 1:1 personalized tutoring. Google and Amazon are investors & partners. HMH is our go to market partner and utilizes Amira as their early literacy assessment. Created at Carnegie Mellon and employing the TPRI assessment licensed from UTHealth, Amira is accelerating reading mastery for struggling readers.

You will join an expert team that has built some of the most successful and widely used applications in American schools, reporting to our Lead Data Scientist. Amira is a special opportunity to do good and to do well.

What you will do

  • • Contribute to the reliability and validity of our assessment
  • • Work with the R&D team to implement the features and capabilities of the assessment
  • • Supervise the creation of our psychometric documentation and technical manuals
  • • Work with school districts to ensure high fidelity implementation of the Assessment
  • • Work with HMH on State DOE submissions and participate in the DOE approval processes across the country
  • • Work on designing and implementing the benchmarks and norms for the assessment
  • • Design and aid in the implementation of algorithms underlying analytics
  • • Work with consulting psychometricians and HMH on item development

 

Who you are:

You have a Ph.D. in Psychometrics, Statistics or related area of study.

You have experience in applying psychometrics to K-12 assessments.

You have experience doing linking studies, benchmark analysis and assessment related reporting.

You know how to utilize IRT to create valid & reliable assessments.

You know how to solve real world problems and you want to see your work ship and get used.

You have a desire to be at a Silicon Valley start-up, with the desire and commitment that requires.
