Senior IT Network / Security Engineer
Job Description:
– Provide billable consulting services to Colorado client base.
– Work in tandem with Account Managers to understand client business and technical objectives and deliver IT network and security infrastructure solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
– Work in a diverse, challenging environment where you use a thorough understanding of the interactions between infrastructure components.
– Design, optimize and troubleshoot deployments of networking and security for on-prem, hybrid cloud and cloud environments.
Duties Include:
– Become a highly utilized consultant by providing outstanding technical skills that bring excellent value to clients.
– Evolve to where you become an integral part of clients’ IT staff and become a trusted advisor.
– Develop content for Statements of Work network and security infrastructure consulting projects and deliver services per the Statement of Work.
– Ensure clear communications during all phases of the project with clients and sales personnel.
– Maintain and build technical expertise through training, teaming with other engineers and expanding your scope of skills.
– Become or maintain subject matter expertise in the product areas for which you are assigned.
– Work with sales staff to develop new business and expand existing business.
– Be eager to expand your knowledge of other infrastructure disciplines by teaming on projects with engineering staff and through professional training.
– Develop strong vendor relationships by becoming technically excellent in your understanding of their products and how to position and integrate those products in client environments.
– Assist in the development, monitoring and management of Managed
Services offerings.
Skills Required:
– 7+ years of IT networking, security, compute and storage experience. This knowledge may have come from a tier 2 or 3 engineer role or similar position
– Solid knowledge of TCP/IP stack and networking protocols that include OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS or others
– Architect, deploy, manage, document and monitor networks which include switches, routers, VPNs, remote
access, SD-WAN and security devices including firewalls, IDS, A/V, SIEM and other security or network
components.
– Broad experience in multiple security and networking products (Cisco, Palo Alto, Ruckus, Check Point or
Fortinet) and monitoring tools (SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, PRTG and/or other)
– Excellent listening and communication skills with an ability to work with a wide range of personalities and
varying degrees of technical expertise and management levels.
– Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
