We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to work with our engineering team to optimize, implement, and maintain our organization’s cloud-based systems. This role’s responsibilities will include deploying and debugging systems, as well as executing new cloud initiatives. Ultimately, they will work with a variety of IT professionals and teams to ensure our cloud computing systems meet the needs of our organization and customers. Our ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and an ability to customize them to meet the unique needs of our organization. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the engineering team to identify and implement cloud-based solutions
  • Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems
  • Define and document best practices and strategies for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to developer teams
  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security 
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventative measures
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
  • Review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud initiatives

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions 
  • Experience in database architecture, ETL, and/or machine learning
  • Experience in business intelligence
  • Experience with big data and advanced analytics
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams 
  • Knowledge of the five pillars of a well-architected framework
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Azure, AWS, or GCP
